After years of happy, satisfying mentoring with hundreds of clients—possibly thousands if you count workshops and tele-classes, I am ready to let my business, The Memoir Network, move on to someone else who will love it as I have—perhaps this is you!
“Imagine! I have often thought as I led workshops or conducted coaching sessions, “I am actually earning a living doing this wonderful work.” After teaching high school to reluctant “scholars” for (too many!) years, I found memoir work to be a bit of heaven.
Memoir work was my coming home!
Helping people to write their memoirs has been a meaningful “life’s work” to which I have devoted satisfying years. I have been able to help so many people to believe in themselves and in their stories. So many lovely people have told me, “I could never have done this by myself. Thank you.”
In the process, I have also come to believe in myself and in the power of an individual to make a difference in the world.
A writing coach can help you at every step of the process. Having “been there and done that”—and being able to talk clearly about it, a memoir-writing coach can point you in the right direction and gently correct your course.
A coach is a teacher, a cheerleader, a critic, a motivator, a writing buddy, a person who holds you accountable for meeting your goals, a good listener, and sometimes an editor—and a coach can be more if you need more.

A Brief History
To view The Memoir Network web pages detailing our history, click here and here.
I have been at this work since 1989. So, I feel fairly safe in writing that helping people write their memoirs via The Memoir Network has been significant and satisfying. In the early days, I used to tell myself, “I’ve come to my emotional home with memoir work. I have come to where I ought to be.”
The workshops came first; then editing, followed by coaching. Ghostwriting came into play at some point in those years. Each has been supported by lead magnets, handouts, blog posts and books.

When writers began to ask me for tips on organizing their own memoir practices, I knew it was time to create a Memoir Professional program within my company. I wrote
- the Curriculum Manual that outlines various workshop modalities,
- The Editor’s Manual to facilitate organizing and maintaining an editing practice,
- Th Speaker’s Manual for success in conducting this significant outreach,
- The Business Manual to help people conduct their work and
- Many ebooks, lead magnets, blog articles and recordings.
Which Leads to the Present…
But, for years now, I have been slowing down my memoir work, and that was good for me. I used to have five people working in the office, and now there is only me.
This spring, I have decided it is time to pass The Memoir Network on to someone else after having led it for 37 years. (It used to be called the Soleil Lifestory Network until 2014.)
I am now down to only one client whom I enjoy working with. She will finish her book in the early fall—and then there will be no clients.

As a therapist, I’d observed the power of storytelling. In the 1990s I wanted to help people dig deep into their pasts and unearth the stories of what had shaped them. I was also curious about how to make a business that would complement my therapy practice and was delighted to find Denis Ledoux and learn about his package of teaching materials—The Memoir Professional Package—to help me get started. The MPP helped me to teach and organize a business that gave people the courage and the tools to write their memoirs.
That was over twenty-five years ago, and I’ve been expanding on that foundation ever since. In 2008, I launched the National Association of Memoir Writers, and I enjoy having Denis as my podcast guest every year!

In Conclusion
If you are interested, visit The Memoir Network. In the last years, as my energy has waned, the site has fallen into slight disrepair, but that is an easy fix. You will, of course, want to add your own branding as time goes by. The foundation will be there for you.
If you are seriously interested in knowing more about The Memoir Network, request our prospectus: [email protected].
After studying the prospectus, if you remain interested, I will schedule a Zoom call to answer your questions.
