Wanting to write a meaningful memoir is a start, but it is not enough. You must know how to write such a story.
On the Third Thursday of every month (at 1 PM/ET, 12 CT, 11 MT, 10 PT), you can participate in a live memoir-writing workshop on ZOOM. As I write this, the next Gathering of Writer is Thursday, August 21, 2025.
While this call is for my Substack paid members, you can easily join our ranks and benefit from the workshop group’s support by clicking on the icon below. I consider the in-person exchange to be the gold currency of my Substack. Don’t miss out.
I am in the launch stage for my new book, Here To Stay / Life In 17th Century Canada. This is a non-fiction account that focuses on the lives of four of my ancestors—the first in my paternal and maternal lines.
Being a writer yourself, you have lived—or will live—how such an accomplishment as writing a book requires focus and an incredible amount of work. Oh, but the sense of accomplishment when it is finished! Here To Stay is finished now except for the cover which is still in preparation. (The above cover may or may not make the final cut.)
It takes a community to launch a book.
A book launch requires a whole lot of people behind it to be successful. My fond hope is to have many reviews ready to post on my publication date October 15, 2025. To do this, I need your help.
I will send you a PDF of the book as soon as I hear from you that you want to be. reviewer.
A request
Would you be willing to write a review of Here To Stay / Life In 17th Century Canada if I supplied you with an e-copy of the text?
The publication date is still 10 weeks into the future. While I would hope that reading this fascinating text (if I say so myself!) would not take you 10 weeks, I do want to respect your time by sending a copy of the book to you early.
On October 10, I will send a note reminding reviewers to get their reviews ready. This ought not to be difficult as something even so short as 50-75 words is sufficient.
On the morning of the 15th, I will send reviewers the URL of the Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Draft2Digital pages where their Here to Stay comment is to be placed.
A caveat: you can post on Amazon only if you have bought $50 on Amazon in the last 12 months. You can still post on Barnes & Noble and Draft2Digital.
