Here to Stay has gone live today.
As I write this, I have sold the first copy of my newest book, Here to Stay / Lives in 17th-Century Canada prior to my Here to Stay launch event.
The public life of my book has begun. It is now in the world and has to live on its merits.
It’s always a bit daunting to send one’s creative work—in this case, a book—out to be read and judged by strangers who will leave reviews here and there. I’ve spent years writing this book and, of course, want people to enjoy it and recommend it to family and friends. Of course, I want eulogious reviews. But…
When you send your book out into the world, a negative reaction is possible. I am no longer in control of the book’s interactions with readers.

A winter of presentation
I have lined up a number of in-person and virtual presentations for the next six months—until next April.

Tonight, I am at a launch program at the Franco-American Collection (LA College, 51 Westminster Street, Lewiston, Maine). I’ll stand in front of a friendly gathering and make a presentation of my book and its themes. As a situational extrovert (really a habitual introvert except when the situation calls for extroversion), I will rise to the occasion and I will endeavor both to entertain and inform my audience as my newest book Here to Stay / Lives in 17th Century Canada launches.

Here to Stay is part of my Franco series that includes French Boy / A 1950s Franco-American Childhood and We Were Not Spoiled (my mother’s memoir) and A Priest in the Family (a fiction set in the 1940s). I have two more books in preparation for this series. These are likely to come out in 2026 and 2027.
