If you’re in business, you need to market yourself. There’s no two ways about it.

If people don’t know you exist, they don’t know what products and services you offer.

Regardless of whether you sell books, coaching and/or consulting services, widgets or done for you programs, people have to hear about you.

Another reality is this; the more of an expert people see you as, the more you stand apart from the competition.

One of the best ways to do this is by being featured on podcast and radio shows.

In the years I’ve shown experts how to get on shows, the #1 challenge for most people is the amount of time it takes to find outstanding shows to be featured on.

Three simple ways to find shows are:

  • Find shows other experts have been on
  • Do a search on iTunes
  • Connect with show hosts on social media

Shows Other Experts Have Been On

One of the best ways to find shows to be featured on is to see what shows experts in your industry have been on. A simple Google search of “NAME OF EXPERT + podcast interviews” is likely to bring up valuable information.

For example, as I seek opportunities to appear on shows within the plant based industry, it would make sense to search out shows experts in the plant based industry have been featured on.

One such expert is author, runner and super plant based eater, Ellen Jaffe Jones. Ellen has a recognized name, has authored several books and has been interviewed countless times. A quick search brought up several shows I can target.

By doing this over and over, I will be able to create a solid list of shows to appear on.

iTunes Search

One of the best ways to find show opportunities is by searching on iTunes. Regardless of your genre and area of expertise, you are bound to find dozens, even hundreds, of shows to appear on.

There are shows of every description on iTunes.

  • Pet shows
  • Health and fitness
  • Finances
  • Law of Attraction
  • Business
  • Self help
  • Overcoming abuse

You name it, it’s likely on iTunes. The challenge is not finding shows, it’s finding the contact information of the hosts. To find all the right information can take as much as 15 – 20 minutes per show.

Connect on Social Media

Yet another way to find opportunities is to search out hosts on social media. Once you compile a list of hosts, go to work reaching out on social media. But be careful the hosts you reach out to are in fact a good match for your expertise. It’s a huge time waster to try and get on a show that is not interested in what you do.

For example, I have a few topics I can be interviewed on. A few are…

  • Book marketing
  • Self-publishing
  • Visibility online
  • Plant Based Eating

If I were to approach a show about book marketing with my desire to be interviewed on plant based eating, there is a huge mismatch… unless I am going to talk about a book I’ve written on plant based eating and how to market it.

It’s important to be very concise, and targeted, when you approach show hosts.

Again, as with the other two methods listed, the greatest challenge is not finding the shows. The greatest challenge is the amount of time it takes to find the shows and the contact information.

Finding Opportunity

Imagine if you knew exactly how to find show opportunities. Shows in a variety of genres including:

  • Business
  • Self-help
  • Health
  • Nutrition
  • Pets
  • Abundance
  • and more

It’s actually fun doing so when you know how.
